On Debian, Ubuntu and their derivatives the .deb package
is the shortest path: one command installs the app,
registers its APT repository, and hands future updates
over to your system's normal update flow.
Install the .deb package
Recommended
For Debian 12 (Bookworm) or newer, Ubuntu 22.04
LTS or newer, and derivatives such as Linux Mint
or Pop!_OS.
Download and install it:
The package installs Tabula Rasa, adds its menu entry and icon, and registers the APT repository.
Use apt rather than dpkg to install Tabula Rasa. You can also download the .deb file directly.
Upgrade Tabula Rasa
The .deb registers the Tabula Rasa APT repository, so new releases arrive with your normal system updates. Upgrade with `apt`:
bash
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
Prefer to add the repository yourself?
The .deb above writes the keyring and the
sources.list entry for you during installation. If
you'd rather do that by hand — or you already
have Tabula Rasa installed some other way and just
want apt to take over updates — these four
commands are the same thing, done manually:
Not on a Debian-family system? The AppImage runs
anywhere with glibc 2.35 or newer, needs no root
and installs nothing. It keeps itself up to date
through the app's own updater, and you can delete
it by deleting the file.
Then run the AppImage by double-clicking it in your file manager, or from a terminal.
Want it in your applications menu too, with
a real icon? The AppImage alone won't add
itself (that's what the .deb does for
you) — this does it by hand:
